Meet Louise - Norfolk's Female Gas Engineer

I started my journey into the trades with an evening plumbing course at City College, just after having a baby. I knew it was time to build a proper career, and from that first class I was hooked. I passed my plumbing qualifications, then moved on to my NVQ Level 1, Level 2, and finally my Gas qualifications.

Getting into the industry as a woman was hard work. Finding someone willing to take me on was one of the biggest challenges I faced. But I stuck at it, and 18 years later I'm still here and proud of every job I've done.

After working with other companies and building up my knowledge and experience, I decided it was time to start my own business. Louise Bee Gas & Heating was born out of a simple idea: that every homeowner deserves a gas engineer they feel comfortable with and can trust.

Women make up less than 1% of gas engineers in the UK. Many of my customers, particularly women living alone, elderly residents, and vulnerable people, tell me they feel more comfortable having a female engineer in their home. That means a lot to me.
